What an absolute treat to have this couple treat us with incredible hospitality. Great sushi. Great atmosphere and a very warm reception. Been in the family since 1942. Will be back to be sure!
Delicious sushi made by a lovely couple. He does the sushi and she cares about the clients. Her English is quite good. High frequent of foreign people. The fish pieces are bigger than I have seen somewhere else.
Great little bar with lots of good culture and rich history attached. Service was very good and funny. Would recommend if in the area
Quality sushi, polite staff, great atmosphere. Strongly recommend for anyone visiting Kanazawa
Great sushi, very friendly and english speaking staff
Delicious sushi at this joint run by a lovely older couple. Very welcoming Japanese service - lots of foreigners here but some locals too. Reasonably priced and great value! Recommended.
This was the best suhi of my trip to Japan. Very small, cozy, family owned restaurant. A couple runs the place. I will remember the experience for many years to come.
Traditonal Japanese bar run by a cute couple (he cooks she takes care of the guests). You will eat among tourists, no Japanese people...so I wouldn't recommend it if you looking for a "more local" place.it's just 10 seats. FYI a set of 8 pieces is 1400¥ while a la carte from 150¥ to 600¥ each piece depending on fish.
Perfect sushi. Absolutely delicious. Great service.
traditional way of sushi.. soooo nice!!!
This place is extremely overhyped. The sushi was just alright. When I was still finishing my drink the shop owner asked me to get up and leave so her friend could sit down.
Sushi ippei has really good sushi. I would recommend it to everyone. They have really fresh fish. Try it, you will love it.
It’s a gem of a place and it’s special. I feel very lucky to have been able to eat here.
Great little shop run by an older couple. Fresh fish, reasonable prices, and good umeshu
Best sushi I've ever eaten. Lovely family run spot. Highly recommend!
Great sushi at a reasonable price. Even better price on sake. Very helpful owner and English menu
The best sushi we have ever had.The fish is extremely fresh and tasty.Friendly place.
Delightful fresh sushi and lovely staff
Not what you’re expecting for the neighborhood. This family run spot is delicious. Great quality for a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend.
Based on the great reviews we decided to have a dinner here, and a good thing we did. It is a small place with a single bar with a few seats. The menu is somewhat small, which we liked as it makes it easier to make a choice. The hostesses is really nice and speaks basic English. The food was absolutely amazing, we just kept reordering. Prices are good for the quality. Highly recommended!
A small sushi bar with about 10 to 12 counter seats. An old sushi chef servers fresh and delicious sushi. Beer and Sake are available. It's a good choice for sushi lover at Kanazawa.
Seriously amazing. Best sushi I have ever had. Both the two workers were extremely polite and caring.
Lovely nigiri sushi only. Only service from the sushi bar. Prices were a little expensive, but fish was amazing.
We were highly impressed by extreme quality of the food, warm and gentle reception. Traditional japanese style; better to make reservation as only 10 seats available.
Best sushi and very fresh in Kanazawa, only place where I can eat raw fish!!!
Very nice and good food!
A small Sushi restaurant that has English Menu for Tourists and the food is really superb !
Fastest sushi making we’ve seen, and very delicious. Bit of a tight squeeze between seats, but gave it a very cosy atmosphere. The couple running the place are very nice indeed. Would definitely recommend!PS. Bar 819 a couple of doors down is very cool, for those interested in art, clean interiors, temporary exhibitions, crisp beer and good wine. Run by a nice guy, Shu-hay.
Fantastic fresh sushi, made to order. Small and cosy, English friendly and free WiFi.
Such a great sushi place just off the main road. The hostess spoke English and explained the menu for those (like me) who didn't have a scooby. We went for a couple of sets and it was delicious - highly recommend!
Amazing sushi and staff. One of best sushi I've had in Japan (in competition with the one in Tokyo's fish market. Super fresh and delicious ingredients.
Probably the best sushi we had in Japan! The fish is so fresh that it melts in your mouth! Also, you can choose more unique fish, based on what the cook has bought from the local fish market in the morning. The place is small and cozy and has only 10 seats and the couple working there is really lovely! Definitely a great place to eat
Good quality sushi and ran by a very nice couple.
Slightly mixed feelings here. On the one hand all the produce was fresh and tasty. On the other it seems like a place mostly catering to tourists (nothing wrong about it though!). The owners are a lovely elderly couple. They have really good sake from Fukumitsu. If you're in the neighborhood it's worth stopping by for few nigiri.
Sushi prepared quickly with no care and thrown at you on the wet counter. Rice was warm and fish cold, poor technique and care overall. We had the set menu and decided to leave because it was terrible. Popular with tourists
Absolutely incredible sushi and very friendly service. Nice and 'cosy' as restaurant seats about 10-12 people on stools sat at the bar, facing the sushi chef. Really enjoyed it (I asked for my sushi with no wasabi in the middle as can't stand the taste, they were very accommodating). Highly recommended!
Excellent sushi. Friendly hosts!
Very good selection of sushi. Cosy atmosphere.
Husband and wife duo make this please a level above the rest. Sushi selection is on point and the quality of the fish is presented how it’s perfectly delivered, on a black granite slab. Very affordable for the experience. Traditionally, the space is small so probably not a good option for parties of 4 or more. Best sushi I had in the two weeks spent in Japan.
Very fresh sushi. They are really friendly too with tourist. Definitely come back if we are back to Kanazawa for a visit.
Good quality with considerable price. You can always find warm service here!
Nice place where locals also go for good sushi.
This restaurant has been in existence since 1947, and the sushi chef Ishizaki Masataka is the son of the founder, second generation family owned. Masa has been making sushi for 50+ years, all according to the hostess. She speaks limited English, but is helpful on educating how to eat sushi to the uninitiated. I asked for an omakase (3000 yen for upper grade) and Masa was happy to oblige. Omakase: Oishii!! Lots of tourists that dropped by. Limited seating which I have observed he had turned a few people away even at 7pm.
Enjoyed the sushi. Staff is friendly to foreigners, and price of the sushi are very reasonable.
Great sushi for an affordable price. Most likely need a reservation in advance because it is a small place. Definitely recommend.
Gorgeous owners and delicious sushi. Really recommend if in the area. The lady even gave us local tips on where to visit. Great experience
Amazing little place with super fresh fish and a lovely Japanese couple. We have been as tourists rejected and discriminated by a number of places so it has been hard to find a nice place. Yesterday we ended up in a super expensive empty place. In Kyoto was different, but here it is actually hard to find a nice place. Overall I have to say that without personal experience the food was awesome.
The fish was great and fresh, and the rice was done well. The assembly of the nigiri felt rushed, and while it is a good sushi, it's clear they're catering mostly to foreigners and thus prices are a bit steeper than they should be
A cosy sushi place run by an older lovely couple. Sushi was extremely tasty, they explained us few things about sushi eating customs, which made us feel very welcome. Fish was very fresh and tender. The rice was properly sticky to make eating easier. Lovely ginger. All at reasonable price of $25-30 for 13 nigiris and drinks.
Perfect sushis (nigiris) and really affordable. The chef and his wife are really welcoming. A true Japanese experience.
